About us and our home

Your hosts are Ian and Jane Kippenberger.
We extend a warm welcome and invitation to visit our home and garden which we love and are happy to share with you.

Ian is a New Zealander and Jane is English. We have lived in the Whangarei area for 47 years.

Ian, a builder, built the three storey colonial style house 37 years ago. He is the fruit and vegetable man and Jane has developed the garden with a Bromeliad bank, native plants, Vireyas, and water features with landscaping help from Ian.

We have a son and daughter. Their families often visit us. Our  many grandchildren enjoy exploring the garden. The garden is fenced at the back for small children and pets. Our grandchildren really get excited feeding the native fish – banded kokopu they are very tame The beach just down the road is great for children with safe swimming.

We have figs, grapes, fiejoas, guavas, oranges, lemons and bananas. A vegetable garden gives us fresh produce.

Our interests include: people, family, our home, travel, gardening, wine – making with
fruit from the garden, walking, fishing, music and reading.

We like to help our guests with our knowledge of the area and any queries they may have.

We have travelled in England and Europe and know what it is like to stay in a Bed Breakfast!!

We hope you like ours.
