Shields of red and white can be seen on the round stained glass windows as one passes through the gates of the Bacon Mansion – the leading bed and breakfast in Seattle, Washington. Built in 1909 by Cecil Bacon on Seattle's Capitol Hill, this classic Edwardian-style Tudor shows not only the trademark family crest, but a fine preservation of original woods, chandelier with 3,000 crystals, marble fireplaces, and a treasured library.
Located in the Historical Harvard-Belmont Landmark District, most of the original floor plan and exterior has been retained. In 1984, a great fire burned 60% of the interior and necessitated major renovation.
Fortunately, Bacon Mansion's massive walls spared the glass and wood pocket doors found in the "day rooms." Opening as The Broadway Guest House in 1985, this unique bed and breakfast is now a stately residence for all who enter.
The main Guest House, consisting of 8,000 square feet of living space, is divided between four levels. A spacious outside patio leads to the historic Carriage House. The Mansion's guest rooms are available nightly, as well as the "day rooms," which are available for social and business events. Along with delicious breakfasts, which include a potpourri of cereals, muffins and delicacies, catered lunches,
dinners and receptions are also available.
History fills the mansion walls, and while you explore the house, perhaps you will catch a fellow guest playing the grand piano. Just a short distance from the Capitol Hill and downtown Seattle's commercial districts, you will be sure to enjoy shopping and access to Seattle's many attractions.

The Carriage Suite
The main floor of the Carriage House has a large queen bed, private bath with large walk-in tiled shower. The leather sofa sleeper and dining area are surrounded by the timbers and doors of the original Carriage House. The room also has a separate sink by the dining room table with some dishes, coffee pot all set up ready to go, fridge and microwave for light meal preparation. This room is designed to be handicapped accessible, as there are no stairs to it. Right in front of the room is a table with umbrella that feels like an outdoor extension of the room. There are a two steps and a threshold to enter into the main house.
The Carriage Suite also has a ceiling fan/light above the bed. Rate Range: $159 to $264 double occupancy plus tax of 10.1%. The difference is based on mostly the season and/or holidays and demand and number of beds in use. Extra person is $20 for 3rd and $20 for the 4th using a twin novafoam portable bed or the full sofa sleeper. |
