Interstitial states are what I find most interesting: that space between waking and sleeping, grief and joy, life and death. My influences include: Victorian Photocollage and Mourning Art, the fantastical elements in children’s literature
and creation myths, and repetitive organic geometries found in nature.
I juxtapose figures and patterned backgrounds and black and white and color to create a sense of disconnection and otherworldliness. I use a crosshatching in my paintings to mimic etchings and paint backgrounds that look like textiles.
My Recent series explore the weird zone in which zoological illustrations turn into images of childhood.
