Experimentation plays a vital role in my painting. I enjoy experimenting with pictorial space, composition and texture. Surface is very important to me and I employ a vast range of paint applications, from transparent washes and loose brush strokes, to impasto palette knife work and tightly rendered detail. My canvases are dominated by human and animal figures in varying states of interaction, some neutral but recurrently in conflict. The content is driven by a fascination with a multitude of different relationships, between humans and interspecies. I strive to create a visual language through painting which stimulates, engages and unsettles the viewer.
