Light and shadow, coupled with a monochrome palette, and painting on copper are my current fascinations. These three
things, combined, are moving me toward a more focused concentration while forming three separate bodies of work.
With a passion to tell people's stories, I love to work from life, but often paint from thumbnail images on my iPhone. When you view
my work I want you to see the humanistic spirit, and read the untold story of my subject through interesting compositions,
expressive texture and brush strokes as they articulate my subject's story through the visual marks left on the canvas.
My goal as an oil painter is to transcend region, geography, and culture, creating artwork that continues to feel fresh with
emotion even after it has been hanging for decades.
When Coila is not painting, she is busy running her gallery in Roundup, MT, and volunteers annually teaching art for the local 5th grade. Evans
has shown in Montana, Dallas, and New York City. In addition to her recent recognition by the Portrait Society of America for "Portrait of a
Family Man", Evans has also been published in The Magic City Magazine, Guidepost, the Examiner, and several Billings Gazette articles.
Her work can be found in her gallery in Roundup, the Lewistown Art Center, and online at www.coilaevans.com
