Susan Leonhard is best known for her series of contemporary underwater paintings depicting the beauty, transparency and light of tropic waters inspired by the beautiful water off the coast of Kauai.
Susan is a native Californian and third-generation artist and describes herself as self-taught but with the benefit of creative genes. Her paintings reflect her greatest inspiration, her love of open spaces, nature & water! Having painted for more than 40 years, Susan has an extensive portfolio that includes five ongoing series: Laguna Beach, Kauai, Landscapes, semi-abstract landscapes & her series of contemporary paintings entitled, "Underwater & Beyond."
Susan is currently living in Laguna Hills, California and exhibits at the Laguna Beach Festival Of Arts, The "A" GALLERY in Palm Desert, Dana Bay Gallery, Dana Point and Hanalei Art Gallery, Kauai. Her paintings have been featured in publications such as, "The Art Lover's Cookbook," "Gladys Magazine," "LA Travel Magazine, "Palm Springs Life Magazine" and "The Creative Way." Susan is proud to have several collectors, including the hospital where she was born, St Joseph Hospital in Burbank, Ca. and also at Scripps, La Jolla. She also enjoys working with Laguna Beach Art Tours participating in painting demonstrations at The Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach and corporate events in the Orange County area.
Susan is a member of The American Society of Marine Artists and Orange County Fine Arts.
