Nestled between Kingston and Brockville Gananoque is the the Canadian Gateway to the Thousand Islands. Come discover
Sleepy Hollow Bed & Breakfast. Built in 1905, Sleepy Hollow is a three-story mansion, complete with a turret and wraparound porch a perfect place to escape, relax, or arrange a special get together....like a wedding!
Your hosts, Don and Marion Matthews, began running Sleepy Hollow in 2001 and specialize in making your stay in our home a pleasant and memorable experience. Our home is enhanced with collections of vintage photographic memorabilia, toys, and dolls, antiques we have collected over the years to make it our home. We have restored this romantic home to its original splendor.
Our home, Sleepy Hollow, boasts an extensive, elegant living room, a plentiful library, a formal dining room, a pool table on the second-floor landing, and central air conditioning for your enjoyment and comfort. Speaking of comfort, one of our rooms, Tara, has "SofTub" hot tubs, Camelot has a very comfortable soaker tub, and the Travancore room has a whirlpool tub! In a move to maintain the original building and still be safe and secure, a full sprinkler system and emergency lighting were added to Sleepy Hollow.
We guarantee that breakfast will be a highlight of your stay (after all, breakfast is half of what we do). Enjoy your choice from our delicious eight-item menu, complimented by fresh fruit, fresh baked breads, excellent coffee, and teas, including herbal teas - click here to find out more about the menu!

Tara
Tara is a spacious, warm, inviting room. The largest of the bedrooms on the second floor (15 x 13 plus the alcove area), this room has a king bed, an ensuite bathroom with oversized shower. In the alcove area, a "SofTub" hot tub has been added, a table and chairs for a quiet spot to read or for your first cup of coffee in the morning. This is our most requested room.
We began this Bed & Breakfast with thoughts about how we would organize our home and make it an experience for your guests.
So many people are really into books these days and book clubs that we decided to name our rooms and Sleepy Hollow as well after places and subjects in books. Lots of folks in this part of the world are familiar with Sleepy Hollow, the story, thanks to Walt Disney.
Each of our rooms are named after places in books, Tara, Avonlea, and the other 5. The book that is associated with each room is in the room.
Tara for instance, has “Gone With the Wind” and the rest have appropriate books as well. We even have a small library with books that interest us and some that have been left by guests that left them. Take a book, leave a book, and enjoy your stay.

Travancore
Travancore is the "room at the top" right under the turret roof. A king size bed, the largest of the ensuite bathrooms that includes an extra large "Ultra tub", the best whirlpool experience because it pumps air rather than water. Travancore looks out on the town and the Gananoque River.
A great place to hide from the everyday cares and pressures of the outside world. Emerge refreshed and ready to take on whatever awaits. Travancore is the room name that most of our guests ask about. It used to be a province that was the Riviera of India where Don's great grandfather worked building a bridge in the previous century. We hope we have created here a Riviera of Sleepy Hollow.
The Camelot Room
Located on the third floor where roof lines and room shapes are unique,
Camelot is quiet and secluded. This room (16 x 18) has a king bed and has it's own 4 piece bathroom ensuite which includes an elegant "soaker tub". A heavenly retreat overlooking the back garden. For the folks that have been here before this room has changed in decor and the new soaker tub will be another reason to return to Camelot.
The Avonlea Room
A restful and whimsical room. And the stained glass window enhances the theme. The room (13 x 13) contains your choice of two twin beds or a King bed (be sure to let us know your choice) and a small 3-piece ensuite bathroom and as you can see below, the sink is in the room.
The Atlantis Room
A quiet and cozy room. This room (13 x 13) has a king bed and a full ensuite bathroom that includes a bathtub with shower directly accessible from the room. It is a favorite with our nautical minded guests. It is on the west side of the house and so the morning sun doesn't wake you quite so early.
The Eden Room
Flowers on the inside make this a bright, sunshine-filled room. It overlooks the back garden and the morning sun through the stained glass window will get you up early. A large octagonal room (18 x 16), this room has a Queen bed and includes a private 4 piece bathroom next door. It has a double pull-out couch so that 4 people can sleep in this room ($30 each for the third and fourth person).
Provence
Located on the third floor, Provence has a Queen size bed and a private 3 piece bath across the hall (a great new shower). The decorating style here was influenced by our visit to the south of France and Peter Mayle's book "A Year in Provence".
