Welcome to Ounuwhao Harding House – Bed and Breakfast
​Bay of Islands Indulge in luxurious, seaside accommodation at Ounuwhao
Liz and Gordon, your hosts at Ounuwhao are located alongside a grassed reserve bordered by century-old Norfolk pines, opposite picturesque Matauwhi Bay – a favourite mooring-place for yachts.

Ounuwhao is a short two-minute drive or a casual 10-minute level stroll to Russell village.

We offer superior B & B accommodation in four queen rooms – all with en-suite or private bathrooms.
The two front rooms feature their own washstand and have French doors opening onto the
verandah and conservatory area, with sea views.

All bathrooms are decorated with old-fashioned, hand-painted ‘Georgian’
​tiles and have showers and toilets; two also have a claw-footed bath.
Each room is decorated individually, with brass beds, and fresh flowers from our garden. The lodge rooms ooze charm and offer a tranquil nights sleep, whilst every attention to detail is taken care of.

Enjoy the comfortable lounge, with tea and coffee available all day, television, magazines, a wide selection of books and the daily newspaper. Relax in our guest lounge or enjoy a book or cup of tea on our wide-sweeping verandahs, in the conservatory, or surrounded by flowers in our cottage garden, whilst enjoying the ever-changing water in the bay.

making your stay in the Bay of Islands a memorable one.
Please note that we have two small dogs on the property, most of the time they are in their luxury play pen.

Main House  and Garden Suite

Garden Suite

Sleeps 3 Garden Suite Holiday Accommodation Featuring a super-king and a single bed with ensuite. This suite is detached from the main house with both peace and privacy from other guests. The bathroom features a spa bath with shower and a washstand. The kitchen area with bench, sink, fridge and microwave allows a simple snack to be prepared. It has no cooking facilities as such. The Garden Suite opens onto its own verandah with outdoor seating in the garden. This room can also be fitted with an extra bed or portable cot if required.

Breakfast at Ounuwhao
Breakfast is served daily between 8.00 and 9.00

Start your day al fresco on the balcony or in the master ballroom
and enjoy a home-cooked breakfast  which might include:
fresh fruit salad or fruit platter

home-made bread or muffins

fresh orange juice

bagel with bacon or salmon and avocado with sun ripened tomatoes

english muffin with bacon or salmon and scrambled eggs and wilted spinach

smoked salmon & scrambled egg in a tortilla wrap, baked in oven

ham & egg ‘cups’ on hashed browns with slow-roasted tomatoes, served with hollandaise sauce

freshly brewed tea and percolated coffee, freshly baked bread/toast, home-made baked goodies
