I was raised as a jock, baseball, football, golf anything with a ball and competition. But, as a little boy, in the back of my mind was always a little voice pulling me to be curious, asking me to recognize the beauty that was all around me. Since retiring early, I have become a full-time painter, responding to that creative urge I had as a child. And I’m happy to report, Life is good!
In 1996 I had a studio built at my home. Since then I have shown my work in several galleries, art fairs and local art shows in my region, selling hundreds of paintings to a variety of clients. I use soft pastel, oil pastel and oil paint to create primarily landscapes of the southwest.
In 2009 everything changed when I joined the Heritage Auction Galleries in Dallas. HA.com is one of the largest auction houses in the world. My work is part of the Texas Art category with two auctions per year. I started selling small pastels at first. Since then my work has evolved to large oils on canvas depicting southwest landscapes of the Big Bend, Ghost Ranch NM, and the Texas hill country.
Artist Statement:
Art connects all of us in the same way as music and literature. Art has its own language telling visual stories about people, places and emotions. Art gives the world an opportunity to connect in a spiritual way. I feel called to be the artist who works to find those connections.
