Artist's Statement for Reliquarium.
. Over the last several years I have been able to view and capture images that appeared as sacred iconography in the rustic and rural - irony and rust - hallowed offerings in hollow places.
The accumulation of photographs became a treasure trove of personal narrative and divine inspiration. I marveled at the transcendent and transportive quality of imagery of wings and flight juxtaposed with the concept of wheels and metal, yet not knowing where the finished inspiration would land. The invitation for an exhibition would arrive two weeks before the horrific burning of Notre-Dame de Paris - thus, a feeble homage to Our Lady.
To witness the otherworldly fulfillment of our vision, informed by our individual journeys, with similar expression of feeling, color, and theme is a revelation of an inner sanctum of spirit and soul, both independently and collectively. The interior of the venerated structure ascends and soars as a cathedral and yet suggests an ark that has poured out and is protecting a consecrated gathering of visionaries.
I wish to thank the Artisans at the Dahmen Barn for the honor and privilege of exhibiting in their beloved venue.
The unscripted and elliptical-shaped journey of my life began in Moscow, Idaho, carried me around the country, and back to Washington State. I dedicate this body of work to my loving, supportive family and friends with much love and gratitude.
