Recently Emmanuel Fremin, the founder, owner, and namesake of the gallery, discussed the show, his experiences as a gallerist, and his hopes for the future.
MM:
How did you initially get interested in art and when did you decide to establish your own gallery?
EF:
I worked as a Model for many years then decided to represent artists for exhibitions and opened my own gallery in 2007.
MM: What was it like to get your gallery started and how did you raise public awareness about it?
EF:
It took a step at the time, first we started by participating at Scope Hamptons which was a great success for us and added more artists to be where we are right now.
MM: How do you select your artists and what mediums and styles do you most seek out?
JP Kadsinski's Summer Residence
EF:
I select my artists based on my personal tastes and what I would buy for myself.
MM: What inspired you to create “The Signature Exhibition” that showcases all your artists?
EF:
Many people, when coming to the gallery, ask to see artists that are not on view at that particular time, by having 22 artists shown at once for 3 months, collectors can view them all at once.
MM: What is the submission process like for your gallery?
EF:
Artists can submit their works via our website.
MM: What experiences with artists and art fans have been most memorable to you?
EF:
The Hung Yi's Fancy Animal Exhibition on Broadway was one of our most memorable moment ever.
MM: What is most rewarding about working in the art world?
EF:
The most rewarding for me is to see some artist's works collected in major institutions and large collections.
MM: Overall, what are your biggest goals for the future of the gallery?
EF:
Our goal is to obtain more large projects for our artists and to participate at the best art fairs to display our collection.
MM:
Is there anything else that you would like to mention?
EF:
I would like to invite your readers to meet our artists on Thursday September 13!
