Artist Meagan J. Meehan
Debuts “Bejeweled & Bedazzled” Shoe Collection
Artist Meagan J. Meehan recently took her first foray into fashion when she debuted her “Bejeweled and Bedazzled” series of shoes via two fashion shows in October of 2018.
The collection contains seven pairs of wedge heels which were created as odes to the seven sculptural wall hangings that comprise Meagan’s most lauded collection of visual art.
Just like the artworks that inspired them, every pair of shoes prominently features the colors of black and white which are accented by eye-catching gold and silver elements. Yet each pair of shoes also features a dominant color—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and pink—that makes the pair truly pop. The patterns on each shoe correlate to the patterns on the artworks for which they were created.
The shoes first premiered at a “Mr. Great Fashion Show” at the Sky Room nightclub in Manhattan on October 18, 2018. A week later, on October 25, the shoes were featured in a second fashion show at the HGU Hotel.
Meagan is hopeful that a company will eventually purchase the designs so that the shoes can be mass produced. Presently, she is offering to custom-make the shoes upon request—in any color and pattern combination—for $250 per pair.
