My love of abstract painting with shapes, patterns, mark-making, textures, collage & bold colors has a start to its history as a little nine year old girl stares at her Mom sewing on an old, pedal Singer Sewing Machine.

Being captivated by the process, I begged her to make something too. So she sat me down and taught me how to sew. By the time I was a teen I was making most of my own clothing. Later, quilting and crocheting introduced a form of adding texture & collage to my textiles.

Using printed fabric & pinned, geometric sections to cut out shapes to make my clothing & quilts, defined my identity, my art style talent, and a colorful way to express myself for years to come.

Later, I transferred all that knowledge into my passion for painting when taking art courses in college.
I use my timed honored process that has served me well, to create inspiring, bold, cheerful paintings that sends positive messages of encouragement and empowerment to continue on your path.

Figurative

There is no time in history that is more important than now to be aware of women's role and contributions to our society. About our body choices and eliminating controls over our lives.

My figurative art encourages and empowers your thoughts and tries to get you thinking about your power as a female.

Connections and Relationships Series

Relating and connecting to other humans is essential for a well rounded life. There are different connections and relationships that we desire depending on what we need in a friendship.

My Connections and Relationships series was inspired because of my own experiences with the last few years' events in our lives. And in understanding that you were feeling the same way, isolated and stressful.

Deciding that I needed to express our feelings, I created a series of paintings (25 in various sizes so far) to remind, renew and encourage yours and my thoughts of prior relationships to gain a footing to find a journey back to a more normal life.

Our relationships are an important part of our human experience.

They can add a richness and joy to our lives when creating a bond with the right person.

That is what I explore in this series. To encourage us through visually delightful art to think about the type of connections that would best serve us

Floral Paintings

Visually and emotionally stimulating floral ART that you surround yourself which impacts and enriches your life everyday. Art that encourages/empowers your ability to grow. Flowers teach us a lot about life.

We grow from a seed, we start out as a small being, grow and flourish into a healthy example of individualism, we age and we depart this world, hopefully leaving a memory as an example for others to emulate.

Hands

Our hands connect us to ourselves and our identity through what we can accomplish with them. And our worth as a human being as we connect to others with our touch, expressions, mindfulness and caring.

With the use of color, texture, repeating patterns and organic shapes my paintings will try to stimulate your senses with a visual voice that encourages and empowers you everyday to your connection to family, community and nature.
You can view them under the Menu Hands.

Digital

These are original fine art paintings created digitally using a drawing app, Procreate, and a pencil of sorts, to reproduce using digital brushes used in painting on paper or canvas. I find I can get the same results using my style and colors but faster and with fewer supplies. It works well for me because I have been creating for a long time and am comfortable with learning new ways to create with still continuing in my abstract style.

I have created non-representational abstracts, stylized figures and some floral so far using my digital painting skills.
And it creates for you, the opportunity to purchase an original print less expensively, in various sizes to meet your needs and on art paper, canvas, metal or other surfaces as they become available.

You can view these at under the Menu Abstracts to Digital Abstract Prints or  https://www.joycewynes.com/viewcollection/154730
For the figurative digital paintings go under the Menu Figurative to Digital Figurative Prints or https://www.joycewynes.com/viewcollection/203146
