Gallery Gary Giordano is pleased to announce
a group show featuring work by artists, Joel Adas,
Jeff Evans, Gary Giordano, Kellyanne Hanrahan, Lauren Orscheln, and Helen Selsdon. Entitled
The August 4 Show, the exhibition showcases a painterly approach to the figure.
While the artists work in disparate styles and methods, the resulting
figurative image remains as a constant source of inspiration for these artists.
It is the very approach to the representation of the human form that drives these artists to make
the selections they have made. The choices made are driven by source, influence, inspiration,
and surface. Joel Adas pulls his imagery from his memory.
Helen Selsdon’s work reacts to her immediate and intimate emotions based on what she sees in her husband. Gary Giordano paints
from the immediacy of life as well; so much so that imagery changes and is reworked prior to the
final result. Jeff Evans paints as a reaction to the overwhelming use of the figure in other media.
Lauren Orscheln uses non traditional materials to get the viewers attention and ask questions
about her narrative. Kellyanne Hanrahan, in a prolific painting effort, will follow inspirations
from internet photography, generating figurative images that are as quick as they are poignant.
The August 4 Show brings together selected works by these different artists for a truly dynamic
exhibition in this growing and developing exhibition space.
