Dori Spector was born in Allentown PA.  She graduated from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, in 1978 with a BFA.  After graduation,
Ms. Spector worked in the Advertising and Illustration fields acting as Art Director of "The Clothes Garden" in Wynnewood PA. she also worked as a courtroom artist sketching for TV news.

From 1986 until 1989 she attended The Arts Students League of New York full time on a Merit Scholarship.  At the Art Students League, she studied painting with Harvey Dinnerstein, and David Leffel.  From 1990 to the present she has studied under many teachers privately such as Burton Silverman, John Osborne, Nelson Shanks, and Robert Liberace.  Ms. Spector continues to paint and draw from life, and works in the printshop at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, where she is a shop assistant. Her work is in many private collections.  Ms. Spector works in her primary studio in her Newtown Square home,  and  in 2015 was awarded a studio for a year as an Alumni Fellow at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.  "  I  hope to have access to professional models in my PAFA studio, so I can refine my body of figurative work".  In 2013, Ms. Spector's design, an etching ,won as the 60th anniversary poster for WRTI, Temple Univeristy's public radio station.

"I struggle to refine my skills, and bring my skill level up to  my idea level.  As I go about my day, I am drawn to a full range of subject matter, and feel compelled to paint everything that calls to me.  Time and energy are a big hindrance.  I am drawn to paint things that are fleeting, especially seasonal flowers and the changing landscape.  I am also inspired by the way people interact with one another.  I can find ideas for paintings easily walking down the street, or watching the students at PAFA.  " In the future I would like to concentrate more on the figure, and travel and paint".

Ms.Spector is known locally for her paintings of Ardrossan Farm, The Hope Montgomery Scott Estate.  Ms. Spector painted the dairy cattle grazing on the beautiful fields.  She continues to be passionate about painting the 200 acre farm.  It is  currently being developed with homes dotting the gorgeous land. Ms. Spector has had three shows solely about Ardrossan, two of which were on the farm property.

She has won many awards in local and national shows, is represented by galleries around the country,
and runs painting and drawing workshops in Philadelphia.

Her work has been acquirers by many collectors including Moore College of Art ,
The Mandarin Hotel in New York City, and the estate of Hope Montgomery Scott.
