Cree Windmills
Born in Grants Pass, Oregon I was the first child of my Father, a cartoonist and skilled designer and builder. Later we moved to California where he was a designer and builder of Illuminated Signs, so I have come by my skills and gifts honestly. Beginning in second grade with my first artist award, I have immersed myself into several arteries of the Art Field, over the last 70+ plus years. always continuing my education and upgrading my skills. I went through elementary, junior high, high school and college taking all the art & craft classes, and the only girl for 4 years in mechanical drafting classes, I could get my hands on. At 15 was given the opportunity by invitation from the University of California at La Jolla to take classes in composition and Oil Painting for a semester. Employment began in the printing and graphics industry as a Graphic Artist plus oil painting (exhibiting at Del Mar Fair, San Diego, California and History of Man Museum in Balboa Park, San Diego doing Pottery on a wheel and sculpting), Pen & Ink, and Pencil Illustration.
Photography and Pen & Ink Illustration had always been my first loves. With these media I can get as detailed as I choose and bring out the beauty of the illustration with single strokes of a pen or the click of a camera. Pushed on into another field of art and designing with a combination of computer skills I had developed in Corel applications and Photoshop for a professional position in a Sign Designing position in 1975.
Moved to Arizona in 1988, so my son, Scot, could go to Farriers school in Phoenix. As a sign designer and graphic artist doing more freelancing and started a business rising Coturnix Quail for the Asian Food Industry, on the side while working and doing a 8 to 10 hour job per day. In January of 1995 to May 2002, in Laveen, Arizona had 6000 quail.
Went back to school to continue my education into the Web Design field at South Mountain Community College in 2011-2012 for a Web Design Certification, completed a “CCL Certification of Competition” for Web Development, DreamweaverCS5.1, and Adobe FlashCS5.5, HTML and CSS. Upgraded of my skills as a designer in other programs as well, which included “Adobe CS5 Suite”; Illustrator CS5 and Photoshop CS5.5.
