I grew up with the TV series in the 1960's and have always loved Batman, definitely my favorite superhero ever. As soon as I learned of this sign, I knew I was going to eventually paint it. This particular sign sits majestically in "Neon Alley" in Pueblo, Colorado which was created by business owner Joe Koncilja, and currently features about 25 historic neon signs that he has collected or commissioned. Zoning regulations in Pueblo declare that neon signs cannot be affixed to buildings facing the street. Konciljja decided that the alley was fair game and began to adorn his collection to the buildings he owns in the alley. He has created an amazing neon space that he claims "It's the greatest assembly of neon art west of Times Square and east of the Las Vegas Strip. If you get a chance to visit Pueblo, swing by the "Neon Alley", you won't be disappointed. Contact me if you have any questions at alll.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Viewers of my work may not know the scenes or subjects in my paintings personally, but they do know them, because they are the same scenes and subjects we see each day as we live our lives. I want my paintings to strike a feeling of familiarity with the viewer, to slow down our fast paced lives, and capture moments that we connect with. My paintings are really just reflections of ourselves, and the places, that we experience along our journey.
While Arizona remains a strong influence, my work draws on scenes and landmarks across the West including Route 66 and classic Americana that celebrates our shared history . I try to capture the spirit, nostalgia, and visual energy of these iconic landmarks, celebrate the history, stories, and enduring character of all of the places depicted in my paintings. For me it is a way to express myself and preserve these treasures as well.
Color plays a central role in my work, by using bold saturated palettes and dynamic contrasts, I aim to amplify the emotional impact of each scene, transforming familiar locations into vivid experiences. I have always believed that if I create imagery of great interest to me, it will be of interest to others as well. Ultimately, my work is an exploration of preservation and the human connection to these places and moments that shape our shared experience.

Glad to be able to preserve the Buckhorn Baths in its heyday through this painting. Photo reference courtesy of the Sliger family, who owned this property for so many years. “Batman”
Original Acrylic on Canvas
48”H x 36”W
$5000
Limited Edition Giclee Prints available on gallery wrapped canvas
Adam West was "Batman" for an entire generation of American children, including me. I was born in 1961 and when the original "Batman" TV series hit the airwaves in 1966, I was glued to the TV for every episode. Thank goodness it was broadcast twice a week, which was very unusual for that time. Always my favorite superhero, I will always remember "Batman" as Adam West from the original TV series, none of the later big Hollywood movies ever connected with me like that TV show. With the 60th anniversary of the first episode airing just a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't resist painting my version of 'Batman". The original is currently available for purchase, in addition to 100 limited edition giclee prints on canvas which will be available in various sizes, including custom sizes upon request.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Christopher Roche is an Arizona based artist known for his large scale acrylic on canvas paintings of historic neon signs, Americana, and local landmarks throughout the West. His brilliant paintings utilizing bold color have a familiarity about them, they are places we know or remember. Roche brings all of his subjects to life through his striking paintings.
A native of San Mateo, California in the San Francisco Bay Area, Roche grew up in a family of seven children and had art in his blood from an early age. After graduating high school he attended the College of San Mateo, where he was fortunate to study art under Joe Price, a master serigraph artist in his own right, and the most passionate and intense instructor he had ever encountered. The fire lit by Price led Roche to Southern California to study art at California State University Long Beach. It was here that he continued to develop his drawing skills, and use of color under the keen eye and tutelage of highly respected artist and instructor Dick Oden.
Staying in Long Beach after graduation Roche began to paint feverishly and started to find his way as an artist. He became a three time Public Corporation of the Arts grant recipient in the City of Long Beach, where he conducted art workshops with at risk youth, and set up local exhibitions of his own work. Roche soon began to exhibit and sell his work in galleries, including solo shows, and numerous juried exhibitions in the surrounding cities of Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and Laguna Beach. Over the next decade Roche's work found its way into hundreds of private and corporate collections throughout California and Arizona.
In the year 2000 Roche moved to Arizona with his wife and son. No longer was his focus on his art, but on his family. His passion and energy turned to education, where he earned his teaching certificate and began working in education. He received his Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University in 2007. "I have always enjoyed working with kids and making an impact on their lives, my background and passion for art has helped me tremendously in my teaching career", says Roche. Although his art became much more sporadic during this time, Roche never lost the need to create.
In 2014 with his son off to college Roche rededicated himself to his art and soon left teaching to pursue his passion full time.. Sketching scenes around town on location, he soon found himself back in the studio in Mesa, AZ creating a new body of work. Making up for lost time, and working with a sense of purpose and urgency, Roche began exhibiting his work in numerous regional and national exhibitions. Roche's paintings of Arizona State University football have found a loyal audience with Sun Devil fans. His recent series of large, brilliantly colored canvases, featuring historic neon signs, and local landmarks throughout Arizona & the West have found a very receptive and passionate audience of collectors. Roche's original paintings and limited edition prints are in corporate and private collections across the United States. He is currently exhibiting in highly competitive juried art festival shows throughout Arizona, and other Western States as well as showing his work through {9}The Gallery, and FoundRE Contemporary in downtown Phoenix.

$4500
Limited Edition Giclee Prints available on gallery wrapped canvas.
I felt like painting some Palm Trees. But these are not any old palm trees. These majestic palms are from the very first area in Phoenix, the Roosevelt District, that was ever designated as an historic district. These palms are actually on West Portland in downtown Phoenix, and line the neighborhood of beautiful bungalow style homes. But honestly, they are wherever you wan them to be, that is the whole idea. the original painting is currently available, as well as a limited edition of 100 giclee prints on gallery wrapped canvas in various sizes, including custom sizes upon request.
