Emberheart Outcrop
Freestanding sculpture:
reclaimed wood slab like a cliff face, split by a
splash-cast metal eruption with oxidized patina;
cast-glass shards flare around a deep ruby ember core—fire
and light frozen in motion.

Weathered Current
sun-bleached reclaimed wood frames rippling copper like moving water, washed in warm rust tones and smoky, storm-like swirls. Floating on clear standoffs, a translucent cast-glass form—stone-like and mineral-speckled—catches the light as the materials' weather and deepen over time.

Bill Battaglia is an Arizona-based sculptor creating one-
of-a-kind fine art sculptures that live at the boundary of nature and the built world. Using reclaimed wood,
cast and recycled glass, copper, and brass, he builds works
where material history is not hidden-it is the subject.
Weathered grain, luminous glass, and aged metal become evidence of time, use, and transformation.
With formal training in visual design and specialized study in glass casting, Battaglia’s process is intuitive
and hands-on. He works directly with heat, sand, and gravity-sand-casting glass, splashing molten copper,
and guiding patina through controlled oxidation and sun.
He does not design in software; instead, he responds to what the materials ask for, embracing unpredictability
as a collaborator. Each sculpture is resolved through experimentation, craft, and the moment when
structure and spontaneity lock into place.
Often built from over 80% locally reclaimed materials and sometimes illuminated with
carefully placed LED lighting, the finished works feel both elemental and architectural -
surfaces that seem excavated, light that feels discovered. They invite close viewing to see
how reclaimed and new materials intertwine, and to consider how our environments are
shaped by what we build, what we discard, and what we choose to preserve.
Battaglia’s sculptures are grounded in craftsmanship and weather-tested durability, made to
endure as powerfully as they resonate. His work has been exhibited in galleries and juried art
events in Contemporary Venice (Venice, Italy); Southwest Artistry Exhibition (Fallbrook,
California); Pavilion Gallery (Scottsdale, Arizona); Enchantment Resort (Sedona, Arizona);
Vail Fine Art (Vail, Colorado); ArtWalk Liberty Station & Mission Fed ArtWalk (San Diego, California); and One-of-a-Kind Show (Chicago, Illinois).
I create, for the joy of experiencing a
vision transforming into reality.

Reef on the Horizon
A horizontal wall sculpture like a relic from the
seam between ocean and desert.
A warm reclaimed wood plank runs across as a quiet
horizon, its grain and knots grounding the piece. On the left, cast glass pools in clear, icy
layers with cobalt and sapphire fragments flashing like submerged light. On
the right, splash copper blooms outward, oxidized into seafoam greens, turquoise,
and weathered reds—like coral fossilized mid-growth. Earth, water, and fire held in
tense balance.

Rust & Radiance
A vertical wall sculpture where weathered history and luminous transformation share the
same spine. A sun-bleached reclaimed plank stands beside rusted corrugated steel.
From the wood’s center, cast glass and oxidized copper bloom outward—clear pools like
frozen water, sparked with cobalt and amber, and a deep ruby core like an ember in ice.
Raw industrial grit meets an unexpected vein of radiance, proving worn materials can
still become a vessel for light.

Skyline of Metamorphosis
A tall, architectural sculpture where brushed steel columns rise like a quiet skyline, and
an eruption of cast glass and reclaimed metal turns the structure into living terrain.
Clear, bubble-laced glass runs river-like, holding shards of cobalt, turquoise, ember
red, and sunlit yellow like mineral pockets in a cliff face. Oxidized copper and splash-
cast textures bloom along the edges in rust, charcoal, and sea-green patina. Warm
light glows from lower cavities—part monument, part metamorphosis.

Voltage in the Rustfield
A stark, architectural wall piece of reclaimed steel and copper, where
rusted planes and slender rods form a measured, almost musical geometry.
At the center, a vertical cast-glass current glows—milky clear glass
streaked with electric blues and violet fragments—edged by splash-like
copper that reads as both scorch and shoreline.
A patinated turquoise panel anchors the light, while scarred corrugated steel
frames it with industrial gravity.
Corrosion and clarity, structure and eruption: a quiet grid holding an
otherworldly pulse.

Weathered Coastline
A layered wall sculpture of reclaimed boards marked by weather and work—peeling
paint, nail holes, and darkened grain forming a quiet architectural backdrop. Three
planks overlap like shifting panels, creating depth and a rhythm of light and shadow.
Across the center, splash-cast copper spreads in
a jagged, branching bloom, oxidized into pale turquoise and sea-green. Flecks of deep
cobalt glass flicker within the patina like submerged light, while thin tendrils reach
outward as if still in motion—earth and fire transformed to ocean color.
