About Barbara Soloff Levy
My education at Parsons School of Design was the beginning of my career. I started in Fashion Illustration and Graphic Design. I then went on to create, write, and illustrate over 100 children's books. I also became an art director, guiding various projects along.
As most artists do, I moved on to other ways of being creative. My love of antiques and unusual objects has led me to create assemblages.
I will see found objects and envision them to be a doll or a funky collage.
As I am building these artworks, I feel I am incorporating these objects like pieces of my own puzzle.
I use all types of supplies: plastic, metals, clay, paper, fabrics, paints, and recycled pieces. I love color and texture. I visualize my pieces telling a story, having a personality, and most importantly, making people smile. I just have fun creating in my studio....my happy place.
