A word about Conceptual and Fine Art photo work…
The question often arises : “What is the difference between Conceptual/Fine Art Portraiture and ‘regular’ Portraiture?” I knew the answer in my gut, contextually, but was unable to articulate it concisely. So I did a bit of research.
The best answer I came across is this: The subject of a Portrait is the sitter themselves; the subject of a Fine Art and Conceptual photograph is the story.
The works in this section can be realistic or imagined; they can range from fun and whimsical to dark and obscure. The exploration of imagination is found here. To quote Forrest Gump: “…you never know what you’re gonna get.”
What ideas and dreams lurk in your imagination? I invite you to come and bring them to life with me while creating a unique piece of photographic art to be treasured always.

The Dream Series
Dreams. We all have them. Whether we’re talking about the gossamer night-time imaginings or our very real ambitions, we all have them. This section is all about making our dreams morph from the outer realms of our imagination to an image we can look at again and again. Why? So that we may learn from our images; to discover what is nebulous within us.
Making an image like this is just plain fun and it looks really cool hanging on your wall.
I’d love to have you join me in creating some art that expresses your dreams. Whether you’d like to put your intentions in physical form, or reach for the as yet unformed ideas dreamt in slumber, I find that making this kind of art is almost always enlightening and most definitely enjoyable.

Who are you? Really?
There’s something to be said for posing properly and finding one’s best light; I continually study these techniques.
Even more, there is an indescribable joy for me as a photographer when a sitter and I are able to get to the authentic self; for this is where the real beauty resides in a soul. This process often requires time and patience.
I find a photoshoot is most successful when there has been adequate planning; the pre-consultation is an essential part of a portrait experience with me. Even so, on the day of the shoot, a bit of warm-up time is usually required.
Often there is an initial period of hyper self-consciousness when everyone is just trying to “get it right.” Finally, though, when we all relax, the real magic starts to happen. That’s the time when we become more comfortable in the moment, loosening up, allowing ourselves to experience the joy of just being real and finding your essence.
I love sharing this experience with my clients.
