The natural beauty of Marmora and Lake

Quite, serene, and still, Marmora’s natural beauty draws outdoor enthusiasts from across the country. Tucked away in southern Ontario’s Hastings County, the municipality of Marmora and Lake is located centrally between Ottawa and Toronto. A popular enroute destination, Marmora and Lake is easily accessible from Hwy 7, a major highway and transport route.
Like a clearing in a wood, Marmora and Lake is surrounded by the incredible beauty of Beaver Creek,
Crowe Lake and Crowe River and its wildlife.

Incredible views await every traveller at Marmoraton Mine, a designated geological site with a historic lookout point. The large crater-like site is particularly beautiful after a rainfall, flush with water.

Meet The Chef

Picture

Rui Pereira was born in Portugal, a country rich in Mediterranean influence, and a culinary tradition rooted in fresh herbs, spices, and olive oil.  At the age of 16, in the 1970s, Rui started cooking in Toronto at a time when the city’s culinary world was just beginning to take shape. Rui considers himself a “first generation Canadian cook.” He was fortunate enough to learn alongside extremely experienced European Chefs that had been “imported” and recruited to establish some of the city’s best known restaurants.

When asked to describe his style of cooking, Rui often replies “good food.” His influences are far and wide, although largely based in the Mediterranean tradition. Rui has been trained in classical French cooking, he also draws inspiration from Italian and Spanish flavours, and is quite loyal to his Portuguese heritage.

Rui’s daughters will often describe him as an artist. With over 30 years of experience, he has truly mastered the art and craft of culinary. His deep appreciation for food, freshness and flavour can be tasted in every mouth-watering bite.
